Since the beginning of 2025, a growing number of solar manufacturers, suppliers, and buyers have joined the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI), reflecting the increasing recognition that transparent, responsible solar supply chains are essential for a fair and sustainable energy transition.
By becoming SSI members, these companies formally commit to applying the SSI Principles across their operations and to begin the process of independent, third-party site-level assessments against the SSI ESG and Traceability Standards.
With over 30 site assessments underway and certified sites already representing more than 65 GW of module capacity, the SSI provides practical tools to support ESG compliance, responsible procurement, and due diligence.
At a time when expectations around traceability, sustainability and respect for labour and human rights are rightfully intensifying, the SSI stands out as the only dedicated international multi-stakeholder assurance initiative for the solar sector; combining credible governance, independent auditing, and a global membership representing over 70% of the world’s solar manufacturing capacity.
