Becoming a member of the SSI signifies a commitment to the SSI Principles. Manufacturing sites achieve certification by successfully completing the SSI assurance process, which includes an initial independent assessment within the first 12 months of joining. At present, the SSI does not certify products, although product certification may be introduced in the future. The SSI does not certify companies.
The Candidate Pathway is a structured, time-bound entry route for organisations committed to SSI Principles that are working towards full SSI membership but are not yet ready to meet all membership requirements. The objective is to provide structured support to manufacturers in their transition toward full SSI Membership.
The Candidate Pathway status is not equivalent to SSI membership and does not grant access to SSI assessment or site certification. Being on the candidate pathway does not confer SSI voting rights nor access to SSI governance or working groups.
