Tracing from mine to module: Two LONGi module sites receive Gold in Supply Chain Traceability certifications

Congratulations to LONGi, whose LONGi Solar Technology (Jiaxing) Co., Ltd. and LONGi Solar Technology (Chuzhou) Co., Ltd. sites have both achieved Gold certifications against the SSI Supply Chain Traceability Standard (SCT).

Following independent third-party assessments, the Jiaxing and Chuzhou sites demonstrated they have systems in place to trace a portion of their polysilicon materials back to quartz mine, and through each step between mine to module. The certifications recognise both the readiness of the sites’ traceability systems and their initial application in practice.

As the first module sites receiving Gold-level SCT certifications, these certifications demonstrate proof of concept that manufacturers can meet growing buyer demand for supply chain traceability. In a complex and dynamic supply chain like solar, it is possible for module manufacturers to set up the necessary systems to trace their materials back to the very source of their polysilicon supply, while respecting commercial sensitivities and supply chain security considerations.

These certifications represent a key milestone for the Solar Stewardship Initiative, and for the broader mission to drive sustainability across the solar PV value chain. When supply chains are traceable, we have the necessary framework to assess and certify responsible production at every step of the supply chain.

The next milestone will be to increase the portion of traceable materials within certified systems. Beyond the current site-level certification offered by the SSI, the longer-term aim is to have product claims based on mine-to-module certified polysilicon.
