Test the consultation version of the SSI Code, against which participating sites will be assessed
Understand current average performance of participating sites against the SSI Code
Inform the assurance process to be defined in the subsequent Assurance System, with a focus on evaluating timeframes, methodology and resource requirements for third-party assessments
The pilots covered 10+ sites of businesses active in different phases of the solar value chain and in different locations.
The findings from the pilots were used to further refine the SSI Code and Assurance System along with the feedback from the public consultation.
It should be noted that the pilots did not result in SSI issuing a certification or other sustainability claim.
However, the participation of volunteer pilot sites did benefit by being:
- Named as early participants in SSI.
- Prepared for future assurance enabling early entry to and ability to gain rapid approval and recognition by SSI.
